Welcome to the latest edition of
Ipswich Connect. We’re a couple of
months into the New Year and I can’t
believe how quickly the weeks come
and go.
It has been a busy period as we kick
off projects for 2014 and already we
have made some wonderful progress
across the city.
We’ve had a hot summer and I’m sure
many of you are looking forward to
the cooler months which provide an
opportunity to get out and about
and enjoy some of our great facilities,
parks and reserves.
I look forward to continuing to
work with the community to ensure
Ipswich remains a great place to live,
and I invite you to contact my office
if you have any council issues that
need attention.

WHAT’S ON IN DIVISION 6
We’re going to start up a notification
list for important news and events
that occur in our division and
across the city. We invite residents
and businesses to contact us at
if
they would like to be added to
our database.
Sun safety and the health of residents
is an important part of planning when
it comes to Ipswich’s recreational
spaces, especially for children’s parks.
As part of council’s commitment to
sun safety and health, new shade
sails were recently installed over the
playground area at Battye Park in
Brassall.
The new shade sails provide excellent
protection from harmful UV rays so
children will be safe to play outdoors
while allowing the breezes to flow
through the area and keep the
playground cool. The sails also provide
some protection from the rain but will
not keep the playground completely
dry.
The colours and design of the shade
sails were installed to encourage
children to use the park and the
nearby barbecue and extra-large shade
shelter has been installed to cater for
children’s birthday parties.
Battye Park is located opposite Brassall
State School.
MOVIES IN THE PARK
Pack a picnic and get outdoors with the
family at this year’s free Movies in the
Park. Residents can visit council’s website
and sign up online as a Movies in the
Park follower for updates on locations,
dates and times coming to you. The next
screening will be the family movie The
Croods from 6.30pm on April 5, 2014 at
Leichhardt Park. Phone 3810 6666 for
more information.
GRAFFITI KITS
Council is committed to the rapid
removal and prevention of graffiti
throughout the city and residents
can report unwanted graffiti to
GraffitiSTOP (1300 Graffiti [1300 472
334]) to have it removed within seven
days. If your property is vandalised
with graffiti, free graffiti removal kits
are available at the Division 6 Office.
