ICON IPSWICH TOWER 1
ICON Ipswich Tower I is open for
business with more than 1,200 staff
from the Queensland Government
expected to fill the office space and
new retailers, including The Coffee
Club. The first tower was completed
in September 2013 and has revamped
the corner of Brisbane and Bell Streets
in Ipswich Central.
A new footpath to join Flinders View
with Eastern Heights is currently under
construction by council.
The Whitehill Road Footpath project
is being constructed in three sections
and is expected to be completed by
the end of the 2013-2014 financial year.
The first section commenced in
October 2013 and completed shortly
after, included construction of the
footpath from Griffith to Robertson
Roads (480 metres).
The remaining two sections include
the Robertson to Cemetery Roads
stretch (580 metres) and commenced
in November 2013, as well as the
Cemetery to Cascade Street stretch
(480 metres) which will follow on.
These two sections are expected
to be completed by the end of the
financial year and the project will
complete the footpath network up
to this section of road to join Flinders
View and Eastern Heights - a busy area
for residents heading to Limestone
and Queens Parks.

convenient access to the internet

2014 will be a big year for future
development in the Ipswich
CBD, particularly in the Top of
Town precinct.
The Big White Furniture building is
undergoing a major overhaul at the
moment with $7 million being spent
on transforming the space into a
multi-storey retail and office precinct.
With the Ipswich ICON Tower
completed and renovations at
the old Bremer Tafe building on
Limestone Street underway, there is
plenty to be excited about.
Also a reminder that it’s not too late
to start your new year’s resolution.
Council’s HAPI program can give you
a helping hand to get active and
healthy. Visit council’s website for
details on how to get involved.
