Ipswich Festival back for 2014
Ipswich’s young residents get into the
spirit at the Festival Street Parade.
With music, art, fireworks and more,
the 2014 Ipswich Festival is on from
April 24 to May 11, 2014 and will be
packed with exciting exhibitions,
entertainment and events.
The festival is a celebration of Ipswich’s
cultural heritage and highlights the
city’s emerging talents with a number
of live concerts, indoor and outdoor
events and plenty of family fun.
The Festival Street Parade is always a
popular event as creative floats and
colourful characters take over the
streets of Ipswich. The street parade is
only topped by the exciting fireworks
extravaganza over the Bremer River in
the centre of town.
The Jazz Wine and Blues is an Ipswich
Festival highlight showcasing emerging
and accomplished performers from
around Australia, while Global Fiesta is
a celebration of Ipswich’s multicultural
diversity with music groups, dances,
authentic ethnic foods, arts and
interactive displays.
For the young ones, Kids Kingdom
offers a free day of activities, and for
mums and dads the Festival Markets
and Sounds of the 60s are fantastic
events to be part of.
There’s no better way to celebrate
the City of Ipswich than by getting
involved in the 2014 Ipswich Festival.

Start-up businesses, artists and
community groups are taking advantage
of the innovative Activate Ipswich
Program to find short and medium-
term uses for buildings in the Ipswich
CBD that are vacant, disused or awaiting
redevelopment.
The program was launched in July
2013 and already seven exciting new
businesses have taken up the offer of
shop space for no or low rent cost over
a short-term basis.
The program has reinvigorated the
Ipswich CBD with new and interesting
businesses filling empty space and
attracting new shoppers.
Support was further strengthened
when Queensland Urban Utilities got
on board offering a waiver on water
and sewerage fees for one quarter to
property owners upon placement of an
Activate Ipswich participant.
Buildings are available on short-term
leases until an enterprise becomes
commercially viable to be able to pay
rent, another tenant is identified or the
premises are redeveloped.
To find out more about the program
or to discuss taking part, enquiries can
be directed to Economic Development
Officer Sharon Worsley by emailing
or by
phoning 3810 7633.
