HERITAGE RENOVATIONS
COMPLETED
The Ipswich Art Gallery recently
underwent renovations to its Freeman
and Hooper Galleries as part of
continual improvement works to the
heritage-listed building. Existing tiling
and carpeting has been replaced with
timber flooring. The Freeman and
Hooper Galleries display the city’s
collection of art and items of historical
significance. The renovations will
ensure these exhibition spaces are
more consistent with the building’s
heritage and original design.
POLICE BEAT OFFICE REOPENS
The Leichhardt, Wulkuraka and One
Mile communities warmly welcome
the new Community Police Beat
officer, Constable Jonathan Jude.
Constable Jude has been working for
the Queensland Police Services for five
years and is eager to start in his new
role working with the community.
Ipswich’s tennis spectators are now
better protected from the harsh
Queensland sun thanks to the
installation of a new shade structure
at the George Alder Tennis Centre
in Leichhardt.
The shade structure was installed in
December 2013 at the centre’s main
feature court to protect spectators
during the summer months and spans
35m x 10.5m creating a vast shaded
area at any time of the day.
The new shade structure was jointly
funded by Mayor Paul Pisasale and
Cr Charlie Pisasale and is a welcomed
addition to this well utilised
city facility.
IPSWICH CIVIC CENTRE UPDATE
The Ipswich Civic Centre auditorium
recently underwent refurbishment
work to the floor, which was ageing and
had suffered significant wear and tear
over the years. Work included removing
the old floor boards and installing new
sub-floor insulation, new structural ply
sub-flooring, new strip flooring with
a polish finish and new carpet edging.
Work was completed in February 2014.
