Harmony Day organised by the World
Harmony Society is about promoting
respect, fairness and a sense of
belonging for everyone regardless of
their culture or religion. There will
be free face painting, free land train

international food, market stalls and
fireworks. Visit

It has been a great start to the year
for Division 1 and it is fantastic to
see commuters utilising the new
Springfield Rail Line into Brisbane.
It feels like just yesterday the project
was first announced and it is exciting
to see the finished product before us
with two spectacular looking stations
at Springfield and Springfield Central.
Division 1 is buzzing with major
projects and infrastructure under
construction including the Orion
Town Centre expansion, duplication
of the University of Southern
Queensland, which has seen a spike
in enrolments, as well as a new office
tower for General Electric.
If you would like to discuss any
issues or concerns, please feel free
to contact my office or drop in to
say hello.

Council has launched an innovative
program in partnership with Lend
Lease and fitness app Map My Fitness
to facilitate better use of Springfield’s
extensive parks, walking and cycling
tracks, water bodies and outdoor
fitness equipment.
Under the program, Map My Fitness
signage has been installed at The Circle
in Springfield Central’s 24 hectare park,
Robelle Domain.
Residents can download the Map My
Fitness app on their smart phone and
access information about popular
routes and activities through the QR
code on park signage.
The app will allow park users to log
workouts, create and monitor a
personalised workout calendar, create
personalised maps which can be shared
with friends or the public, create
personal challenges and goals, as well as
food diaries and calorie counts.
Usage of Map My Fitness through the
QR code will be monitored by Lend
Lease and council to judge the success
of the pilot program. If successful, the
technology will be implemented in
future parks. To find out more visit

NEW BUILDING FOR USQ
The University of Southern
Queensland is expanding with a new
$45 million building in Springfield
Central. The new five-star green-
rating building will be the flagship for
USQ’s expansion. Ipswich is one of
the fastest growing regions in South-
East Queensland and the university’s
expansion will cater to the increase in
enrolments.
ORION EXPANSION
Event Cinemas, Target and Coles along
with 80 additional retail stores will be
part of the next stage of development
at Orion Town Centre in Springfield
Central. The Event Cinemas will have
nine screens, including two Gold Class
screens. Coles and Target will bring
their latest large store format concepts
to Orion and an additional 1200 car
parks will be provided. Construction
will commence in March 2014 and is
