SHIRLEY STREET WORK COMPLETED
Cr Attwood would like to thank
residents for the co-operation and
patience during construction of kerb
and channelling work along Shirley
Street, Redbank Plains. Work included
the construction of the kerb and
channelling, stormwater drainage from
Shirley Street through to the proposed
retention basin on the corner of
Redbank Plains Road and Carol Street, as
well as the actual retention basin itself.
NEW PRIEST
We welcome Reverend Vincent Conway
as the new Priest at St Luke’s Anglican
Church. Reverend Vince Conway was a
Curate at Kenmore-Brookfield Parish and
comes to St Luke’s with his wife Melissa
and their two sons. Reverend Conway’s
commissioning was held on January23,
2014 and the community welcomes him
and his family.
The RiverviewCommunity Centre is
looking a little brighter thanks to a new
mural designed and painted by local young
people in an effort to tackle crime and
vandalism and encourage creative thinking.
Artist Trevor Horsnell and Ipswich
Indigenous Art and Culture Hub worker
Annie Clarke worked with local kids to
help inspire the impressive effort.
The community project came about
following an incident last Christmas when
the centre was targeted by graffiti vandals.
There was a need to prevent vandalism
and work with local young people to find
out what they want to see instead.
Thanks to a partnership with the
Riverview Community Centre,
Neighbourhood Watch and Ipswich
City Council, over 12 young people
took part in the project to paint the
beautiful mural.
Following the success of this project,
Riverview Neighbourhood Watch
has launched an application to
gain preliminary approval from the
Queensland Government to undertake
a similar project at the Endeavour
Road Underpass. Councillor Attwood
said he looked forward to helping
projects that continue to combat
graffiti by engaging young people in
the solution.

With the start of another year
council has hit the ground running as
we plan for the future.
Council is on track to helping bring
new infrastructure, business and
facilities that will benefit all residents
as we lead the way for growth in the
south-east region.
We’re always developing ways
to make Ipswich an ideal place
to live, work and play and the
Ipswich Connect is all about us
communicating what we have done
or plan to do in your division.
Councillors are here to represent
their constituents, so if there is
something you would like to discuss
or an issue you would like addressed,
please feel free to send me an email,
pick up the phone or drop in to the
