Council holds a number of different meetings including ordinary, special and committee meetings.

Ordinary Council Meetings are held once a month generally on a Thursday with committee meetings held prior also generally on Thursday as per the adopted schedule.

Members of the public are welcome to attend council ordinary and committee meetings which are held in Council Chambers, 1 Nicholas Street, Ipswich. These meetings are also live streamed on the council YouTube channel.

Meeting Agendas and Meeting Minutes for all Council and Committee meetings are published in accordance with the Local Government Regulation 2012.

Public Participation

As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to transparency and community engagement, public participation is available at each Ordinary meeting of Council. This is to allow members of the community to raise issues relating to council’s strategies and policies and matters that are currently on the agenda of the council meeting.

Petitions

A petition is a formal written request that can be used to bring a matter of concern to council and is signed by at least ten (10) people who support the request. Petitions are a mechanism to seek action from Council when all other means or avenues to resolve the matter have been exhausted.

The Meetings Procedures Policy specifies the requirements for petitions and how Council must deal with them.
