Ten shovel-ready job-creating infrastructure projects are set to get underway across Ipswich thanks to a funding boost from the Federal Government.
Mayor Teresa Harding said the funding, from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCIP), would mean council could deliver important local road, bike path, and community facility improvements.
“I’m delighted that Ipswich City Council has received $7.37 million in Federal Government funding, which enables us to get working on a range of road repairs, bike paths, and facility repairs that our city needs,” Mayor Harding said.
“Some of the projects include road repairs in North Station Road, Booval; footpath and bikeway works along Bremer Street; kerb rehabilitation in Rosewood and Brassall; and fence replacement at the Tivoli Sports Complex.
“As the fastest growing city in Queensland, Ipswich needs greater investment from both Federal and State governments to make sure our growing population can enjoy the same access to facilities and services as other parts of the state and nation.
“I’d like to thank Senator Scarr for his support of the city, and for his commitment to work with elected representatives to deliver better outcomes for the Ipswich region.”
Senator Scarr said he was very pleased the Federal Government was partnering with Ipswich City Council and providing $7.37 million for important local works – through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
“The Morrison Government is committed to supporting the Ipswich community with these upgrades to roads and footpaths, bicycle and walking paths and local sporting facilities,” Senator Scarr said.
“The funding from the Federal Government is helping support and stimulate the Ipswich economy during the COVID-19 pandemic recovery with ten local projects to be completed by December.”
Work is expected to be complete by the end of the year, with the full program of work valued at $8.67 million. A full list of projects is included below.
These projects are funded through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program provided by the Australian Government.
