Australia’s biggest international country music festival will be back in Ipswich in 2022.
CMC Rocks will return to Willowbank for five days from Wednesday 21 September until Sunday 25 September 2022 for its 15th anniversary year.
After the pandemic forced the postponement of the 2020 festival, and again this year, ticket holders who ‘kept the faith’ will still be have their tickets valid for the 2022 festival.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said this powerhouse attraction could not come at a better time and will inject millions into Ipswich’s economy.
“We’re thrilled to be welcoming CMC Rocks back home to Ipswich in 2022,” Mayor Harding said.
“This world class festival is a highlight on the event calendar for people from all over Australia and around the world.
“CMC Rocks also brings huge economic benefits along with national exposure to the Ipswich region.
“This festival generates important value to the economy to aid our pandemic financial recovery and supports local jobs.
“Our community really gets behind this must-see event with its fantastic atmosphere, international artists and the opportunity to camp on-site for the full festival experience.”
The 2018 CMC Rocks generated more than 53,000 visitor nights in Ipswich – growth three times that of the first event held in Ipswich in 2015.
Economic and Industry Development Chair Deputy Mayor Nicole Jonic said not only does CMC Rocks deliver a world-class event, but the economic impact also benefits many small businesses throughout Ipswich.
“CMC Rocks has tripled its overnight visitor expenditure from $2.76 million in 2015 to $11.34 million in 2018 and that money is spread around several industries and business locally,” Cr Jonic said.
“In 2015 the rapidly growing festival sold 5,802 tickets to 2019 where 21,380 tickets were sold within an hour.
“We encourage those visiting for CMC Rocks to extend their stay in Ipswich, support our local tourism operators, hospitality industry and spend some time in the beautiful Ipswich region.
Country music superstars American Brad Paisley and Australia’s Morgan Evans will headline CMC Rocks along with America’s Kane Brown who will be performing in Australia for the first time.
Tickets go on sale on at 9am on Wednesday, 3 November via Moshtix.
The event is expected to return to its usual March slot from 2023.
