Have your say on future facilities

Residents can now share their views on facilities across Ipswich, as council opens the floor to feedback on its 20-year plan for public venues such as libraries, art galleries, and multipurpose community centres.
The Strengthening Ipswich Communities Plan is out for consultation on Shapeyouripswich.com.au until 31 October, alongside a survey for facility owners.
Mayor Teresa Harding said community groups and their participants have an important role to play in the development of public spaces across Ipswich.
“It has been fantastic to hear from residents and ratepayers on Shape Your Ipswich over the past 18 months,” Mayor Harding said.
“The ideas we’ve seen on the site have influenced initiatives from our Waste and Circular Economy Transformation Directive, to our 20-year city vision called iFuture, plans for Ipswich Central and more.
“Our city’s population will more than double in the next two decades and it is important that as our city grows our facilities evolve to meet changing community needs.
“As we have shown through the delivery of the new Ipswich Central Library and ground-breaking Ipswich Children’s Library, council is committed to delivering better facilities for everyone.
“We want to make sure we have the right community facilities for a range of community activities that foster vibrant places and spaces.
“I encourage the community put forward all ideas about facilities that can enhance our city and help us deliver on our shared vision of opportunity for all, no matter how small, big or out of the box.”
Resident and ratepayer feedback will help shape the draft Strengthening Ipswich Communities Plan, set for presentation to council in 2023.
Council will provide regular updates to the community, including further opportunities to have your say, throughout the consultation and drafting process.
