Flowing on from the success of the first Creators of Ipswich Summit, artists are being invited to enter the 2021 Ipswich Art Awards.
Mayor Teresa Harding recently hosted the summit to support the Ipswich creative sector with more than 100 creatives coming together representing a diverse local community of creators including photography, visual art, performing arts, heritage, music, fashion, dance, digital design, film, crafts, architecture, writing and Indigenous art.
Some will no doubt want to enter the long-running art competition, with registrations now open and set to close on 16 April 2021.
Mayor Harding said that support for Ipswich’s creators will remain a focus for council in 2021, with the awards presenting another opportunity to connect with and promote the sector.
“The quality of art on display at the Ipswich Art Awards is of a consistently high standard, and I am sure entrants, especially our local artists, will continue to raise the bar this year,” Mayor Harding said.
“These awards attract some of the best local talent, as well as from further afield. It is widely recognised as an outstanding competition and we look forward to seeing the variety of entries on display across the eight categories this year.”
Mayor Harding said following input from local creatives, the categories for the 2021 Ipswich Art Awards had been expanded and diversified from previous years.
There are eight categories:
Entries are $30 per submission which includes complimentary artist entry to the opening night. The exhibition start date is Friday, 21 May 2021 (evening opening event and awards ceremony) and closes on Sunday 30 May. It will be held at the North Ipswich Reserve Corporate Centre.
