Ipswich City Council workers will be busy over the Easter period as they start work on the Edward Street rehabilitation project in Rosewood, which is due to start early April.
The works along Edward Street are expected to take about 12 weeks, until the end of June, to complete, weather permitting.
The works include rehabilitating the road pavement, replacing kerbing and channel as well as replacement of gully pits.
Along with the brand new kerbing, residents of Edward Street will also receive new driveway inverts.
Division Four Councillor Kate Kunzelmann said these upgrades will greatly benefit the community of Rosewood and improve drainage within the area.
“Not only will the road resurfacing make it safer for local motorists it will also improve the look and feel of the street,” Cr Kunzelmann said.
“The new kerbing and drainage systems will benefit local residents especially in times like these when we are experiencing heavy rainfall.”
Construction activities may affect residents and businesses along Edward Street as driveway access will be interrupted as works continue to progress past properties.
Crews will provide a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to residents to reduce the impact felt.
Residents may also experience increased noise from construction equipment and activities during this time.
Division Four Councillor Russell Milligan said the end result will be worth the short term inconvenience.
“The end result for locals will be worth it, these street upgrades are an integral part of our communities safety,” Cr Milligan said.
“These upgrades will also help to keep water off our roads and assist in keeping residents properties safe during heavy rainfall.”
These works are part of council’s ongoing maintenance and upgrade program across Ipswich City.
In the instance your driveway be blocked due to these works, residents can get emergency access just by asking for it.
As the completed works will be of benefit to residents and the community at large, your cooperation and patience will be greatly appreciated during this time.
