Santa touring the suburbs with Rural Firies for Christmas in Ipswich

09 December 2021

He’s made his list and checked it twice, now Santa and his fleet of festive fire trucks are heading to an Ipswich suburb near you across two festive weekends - 10 to 12 and 17 to 19 December.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said Santa and his friends, with help from the Mt Forbes Rural Fire Service, will travel on a fleet of Christmas-themed trucks to visit more than 30 local communities.

“Over six fun-filled nights, Santa and his band of merry performers will be cruising past festive lights and stopping at local parks and suburbs to spread plenty of Christmas cheer,” Mayor Harding said.

“The festive fleet will travel almost 250 kilometres, from Johnstone Park in Rosewood to Colleges Crossing in Karalee, down to Ironbark Park in South Ripley and Spring Lake Park in Springfield Central, with plenty of stops along the way.

“ChristmasInIpswich.com.au is the place to go to find out where you can see Santa and his merry troupe of festive friends.”

Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said the fleet that includes Mrs Claus, Elves, The Grinch, Santa’s Reindeer and merry musicians will visit several suburbs each night, to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy an early visit from Santa.

“It’s fantastic that Santa and his North Pole friends will be aboard with the Mt Forbes Rural Fire Service, who deck out their fire trucks with decorations and festive lights,” Cr Fechner said.

Cr Fechner said there will be more than two-dozen free and low-cost events in December for the community to come together in goodwill and joy.

“There really is something for everyone, with details of the program available online at ChristmasInIpswich.com.au to help your planning.

“And don’t forget to visit your local library to write and post your letter to Santa and Mrs Claus!”
