28 November 2022
Spectacular suburban wonderlands, Christmas carol sing-alongs, fleets of merry performers and so much more are planned for Division 3 as part of council’s annual Christmas in Ipswich program.
Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said the centrepiece of celebrations will be in Ipswich’s revitalised urban heart, the Nicholas Street Precinct.
“One of last year’s most popular attractions returns as the precinct transforms again into the ‘St Nicholas Precinct’ and fills with Christmas magic and joy from 9 to 18 December,” Cr Doyle said
“The Precinct will evoke the spirit of the season with spectacular lights, colour and magical moments for all ages to explore and enjoy.”
Division 3 Councillor Andrew Fechner said the city’s celebrations will include free events and activities across the Division.
“Departing from the St Nicholas Precinct across two weekends, Santa on Tour will see a merry fleet cruise through suburbs, stopping at local parks and community locations on 9 and 17 December to spread festive cheer with help from local rural fire service personnel,” Cr Fechner said.
“After the shimmering St Nicholas Precinct wonderland and Christmas merriment, attention will turn to the skies above Ipswich Central on New Year’s Eve at 9pm for a spectacular fireworks display to welcome the city into the new year.”
