Mexican food favourite Zambrero and That Dumpling Place are the latest entries to Ipswich Central and will provide perfect options for lunch and dinner.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said it was exciting to see more businesses open in the precinct, creating local jobs and interest from Mexican and Asian food lovers.
“I am thrilled to see Zambrero open their doors on Wednesday 3 August, joining the recently opened That Dumpling Place and Gelatissimo, who hit the ground running with their ice cream and dessert offerings when they first opened last month,” Mayor Harding said.
“The Nicholas Street Precinct is coming alive. This is just the start of more eateries, restaurants, cafes, bars and retail stores opening right across the CBD.
“This is another positive sign that innovative thinkers are backing the Ipswich Central revival.
“The precinct is providing new opportunities for businesses as well as giving residents more places to dine, shop and meet friends close to home.”
Ipswich Central Redevelopment Committee Chairperson and Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said the community was delighted to see these businesses open for trading in the redeveloped Nicholas Street Precinct.
“Gelatissimo has proved very popular since its opening and with a variety of interesting eateries about to launch, the Nicholas Street Precinct is offering more taste choices for the Ipswich community,” Cr Doyle said.
“Zambrero and That Dumpling Place will bring a real buzz to the area and will soon be joined by Sushi Hyo. We look forward to sharing more fabulous news about additional new tenants in the precinct soon.”
That Dumpling Place enjoyed a “soft” opening at the weekend selling more than 3,000 dumplings and from this week will be cooking up a storm with its juicy northern Chinese style dumplings and steamed pork and Chinese cabbage dumplings among the specialities.
Zambrero is also expected to announce a huge giveaway to celebrate its opening.
Jeremy O’Neill, head of Corporate Restaurant Development for Zambrero, said the company was very excited to be opening in the heart of Ipswich in the new Nicholas Street Precinct.
“Our Zambrero Ipswich CBD restaurant will be our third restaurant within the City of Ipswich, further supporting our Zambrero Bundamba restaurant and our Zambrero Yamanto Drive Thru which really highlights our commitment to providing the local community delicious feel-good Mex, and truly the best burrito in town,” Mr O’Neill said.
“The new Nicholas Street Precinct was an obvious choice for Zambrero, with our burritos and bowls being the perfect option for a busy office worker on their lunch break, or families coming to the city to enjoy the precinct and needing a fantastic meal.
“Our doors open on Wednesday 3 August at 10.30am, and we are proud to say we have employed an additional 20-plus Ipswich locals to join the team.
“In the coming weeks we plan to celebrate with our grand opening, where we will be giving away 1000 free burritos, details will be posted on our socials soon.”
