Theatre shows and a tribute to music icon Roy Orbison are among the incredible performances coming to Ipswich this March.
Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said the Ipswich Civic Centre has a long line-up of shows ready to entertain show goers.
“From council’s first ever in-house produced show The Sound of Music, to Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir Showcase, there’s something for everyone at Ipswich Civic Centre this March,” Cr Fechner said.
“The refreshed version of the beloved Logie Award winning TV show Mother & Son is also part of the long line-up of entertainment coming to the Civic Centre this month.”
Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Deputy Chairperson Councillor Kate Kunzelmann said this month’s shows are not to be missed.
“With so many high calibre shows coming our way, there’s no better time to book a show or two,” Cr Kunzelmann said.
“So, gather your friends and family and come see what the Ipswich Civic Centre has to offer this March.”
Mother & Son
Tuesday 1 March 2022, 7.30pm.
She’s back, everyone’s favourite forgetful mum and she’s headed to Ipswich.
This version of the beloved Logie Award winning show finds long suffering second son Arthur Beare hoping for the chance to finally take his new flame Anita away on a little holiday.

Stitch in the ‘swich – March
Friday 4 March 2022, 8.00pm
MC Comedian Anthony Lamond, brings comedy to Ipswich in the monthly Stitch in the ‘swich series.
Opening night stars both Mel Buttle and Bron Lewis, Mel Buttle is a hilarious bundle of contradictions, and she’s a package that is rapidly making herself felt in all mediums, right across the country. Bron Lewis is a Brisbane based comic, who is desperately trying to shed her Melbourne skivvie collection to fit in up here.

If you enjoy musical theatre, you are going to love this production of one of the most treasured musicals of all time The Sound of Music. This is the first-time council has showcased its own theatre production and will see local kids take to the stage with seasoned professionals.

Jaleos Flamenco
Saturday 26 March 2022, from 6pm
With all the colour, rhythm and unbridled angst, joy and passion that flamenco has to offer, Jaleos Flamenco offers that quarantine free trip to Spain that everyone’s been itching for.
Included in the ticket price is access to a 1-hour pre-show experience (from 6pm) with Andrew & Simone who will teach the audience the art of Spanish clapping, calls outs and dancing. Show commences at 8pm.

Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir Showcase 2022
Sunday 27 March 2022, 2.30pm
Join Ipswich’s longest-running choral organisation as they showcase their preparations for the Queensland Eisteddfod. The reigning champion choirs, the Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir and the Cambrian Youth Choir, will perform with the Cambrian Show Choir, the Junior Cambrian Choir and Coro Concorde, bringing together the 5 choirs of the Cambrian family.
