Vote for Marburg to be the tiny tourism hero of Queensland

Marburg’s unique country charm has landed it a finalist position in the 2022 Queensland Top Tourism Town Awards.
Economic and Industry Development Committee Chairperson Nicole Jonic said Marburg was one of ten finalists in the ‘Top Tiny Tourism Town’ category.
“Public voting is open until 23 May, 2022 so I encourage everyone across Ipswich to jump online and help our small but mighty Marburg take the title,” Cr Jonic said.
Division 4 Councillor Kate Kunzelmann said Marburg was a deserving finalist in the Queensland Tourism Industry Council awards.
“Tourism to this tiny town has grown in recent years with local family-owned and operated businesses working together to lure travellers off the Warrego Highway,” Cr Kunzelmann said.
“Where else can you shop for emu oil health and beauty products, enjoy a luxury boho styled picnic, then combine painting with a paranormal experience at the oldest original pub in Ipswich?
“It is a town overflowing with incredible and unique experiences, from the picturesque Woodlands at Marburg to The Black Museum and Scotland Yard antiques.”
Division 4 Councillor Russell Milligan said Council was proud to support local businesses and tourism initiatives in Marburg.
“The Marburg community provides an amazing visitor experience, with businesses, tourism operators and the local community working together to make their town the best destination it can be,” Cr Milligan said.
“I love that it’s a town with quirk – you can borrow a book by throwing a gold coin into a repurposed old outhouse loo – but it’s also such a welcoming town where you can always stop for a friendly chat.”
