The fusion of art, culture, and craftsmanship has given rise to a tasteful collaboration between SPARK Ipswich 2023 and 4 Hearts Brewing.
The craft brewery at 88 Limestone Street will brew a limited edition, one-off batch of craft beer that pays homage to a spirit of creativity and the people, places and culture celebrated as part of the SPARK Ipswich festival.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the collaboration was a testament to the shared values of both the brewery and the arts and culture festival.
“SPARK is now in its third year and this is a great example of the festival going from strength to strength as more businesses and community groups get behind it,” Mayor Harding said.
“4 Hearts Brewing is located right in the heart of Ipswich, at the site of the city’s first source of spring water, so we’re glad this came together and that SPARK Ipswich is spreading out and generating creative opportunities for the community.”
Economic and Industry Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Nicole Jonic said the collaboration extended beyond the beverage itself.
“This special brew embodies the festival’s ethos and also shows what SPARK is all about: people, connections and culture,” Cr Jonic said.
“For 11 days in July all across the city, music, comedy, arts, exhibitions, circus performances, projection, technology and discussions will take over for this annual cultural highlight.”
In 2013, 4 Hearts Brewing became the first Ipswich brewery to brew beer locally in over a century.
It is in the same building as the former Queen Victoria Silver Jubilee Memorial Technical College, designed by noted architect George Brockwell Gill.
4 Hearts Brewing master brewer Reece Richards said the special edition beer would be brewed with meticulously selected ingredients.
“We love SPARK Ipswich and we wanted to show our support for the festival through an artful combination of premium malts, hops and some other special adjuncts that will create a one-of-a-kind taste,” Mr Richards said.
“This brew is called the Ipswich Light, a light lager with layers of intricate flavours that leave a lasting impression, much like the festival will on all its visitors.”
The Ipswich Light will be on sale at select licenced festival sites across the city and at 4 Hearts Brewing throughout July.
Don't miss your chance to experience this exquisite fusion of creativity and flavour.
