Roarrrsome fun coming to Ipswich these school holidays

It’s not every day that residents of Ipswich get to have an up-close encounter with a prehistoric dinosaur but during these school holidays, the Nicholas Street Precinct is set to roar into action with a colossal-sized dinosaur experience.
Tulmur Place will transform into a Jurassic dinosaur domain from 26 June to 5 July. Children of Ipswich can learn the difference between a Stegosaurus and a Saltasaurus, try to tame the Tyrannosaurus Rex, gaze into the eyes of the Green Raptor and grab a family selfie in the safari car.
Ipswich Central Redevelopment Committee Chairperson and Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said the dinosaurs are of epic proportions having toured the country and previously been on display in Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney Zoo.
“Children and the young at heart can expect over 28 lifelike, animatronic dinosaurs providing an immersive and exciting way for visitors to marvel at the 165-million-year history and see some of the greatest creatures to walk the earth,” Cr Doyle said.
“We hope to see Ipswich really come together these school holidays, see something new and exciting, and while in the precinct visit the fantastic local businesses.
“The precinct shops and restaurants will offer a host of ‘dino deals’ from meal offers in Stellarossa and Gelatissimo, to green-hued manicures and dinosaur nail art from Sofia Nails.
“May was another record-breaking month for the precinct, tipping over 100,000 in visitation numbers and June will no doubt see that continued growth.”
Division 3 Councillor Andrew Fechner said there will be no shortage of fun to be had in the revitalised city heart these school holidays.
“There is so much on offer, more than just dinosaurs too with, arts and crafts, markets, food trucks serving a variety of flavours, outdoor games and exciting activations,” Cr Fechner said.
“As well as activities in Tulmur Place, Ipswich Libraries has loads of fun activities to help families learn and connect.
“At the nearby Ipswich Art Gallery, children can explore everyday musical concepts through open-ended activities as part of the gallery’s’ Make Some Noise exhibition.”
