Residents can learn how to easily replicate expert nutritional cooking at home at a free workshop at North Ipswich Reserve hosted by ex-Masterchef contestant Georgia Barnes on Friday 10 February.
Community, Culture, Arts and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Fechner said the family-orientated workshop will be a fantastic and tasty opportunity for health-conscious residents.
“Georgia is a much-loved food enthusiast, educator, nutritionist and chef who is all about balance and the love of beautiful food,” Cr Fechner said
“The free workshop will focus on nutrition education and the importance of eating a rainbow of colourful foods, simple home cooking techniques and a demonstration of how to prepare two fabulous recipes.
“Cooking and eating nutritious meals with our families and households is a great way to stay healthy, learn new skills and try new foods.”
Georgia Barnes said this will be the second workshop she has facilitated for Ipswich City Council and is looking forward to coming back to the city.
“I will be talking all things nutrition and demonstrating colourful, easy recipes that are nutrient-dense but, most importantly, they are packed with flavour,” Ms Barnes said.
“These recipes are family friendly and great for entertaining, plus they will not break the bank.
“Understanding the 'why' when it comes to whole foods and how they improve you and your family's overall wellbeing is a game changer.”
Ipswich residents can also look forward to three upcoming workshops as part of a series hosted by Nutrition Australia: Boost your Energy, Healthy Supermarket Hacks and Health on a Budget.
These nutritional workshops are an extension of council’s Active and Healthy Ipswich programs.
Amateur cooks can try more ‘Wholesome at Home’ recipes by former Ipswich Civic Centre chef ‘Rohan’ on council’s Active and Healthy Ipswich programs website.
