Free neon family fun and live tunes return to Ipswich CBD

Monthly Friday evening live music events have returned to the outdoor stage in Ipswich’s city centre as Tunes in Tulmur prepares to flashdance like it is the 1980s on Friday 24 February.
Ipswich Central Redevelopment Committee Chairperson and Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said the free events are a great entertainment option in the revitalised heart of our city.
“Tunes in Tulmur is a popular monthly free showcase in the Nicholas Street Precinct that combines live music, food trucks, roving performers and a licenced bar,” Cr Doyle said.
“These evenings are eagerly anticipated by music lovers, families and friends looking for a fun and low-cost night out with more than 3,000 people attending events in 2022.”
Division 3 Councillor Andrew Fechner said the second Tunes in Tulmur for 2023 will feature eighties’ flair with M180’S VICE headlining a night full of loud outfits, dancing and neon fun.
“Tunes in Tulmur in the Nicholas Street Precinct is a perfect way to kick back with live music, stacks of tasty food, and lawn games on a warm Ipswich Friday night,” Cr Fechner said.
“While February’s event is a must for lovers of 80s music and fashion, next month’s event will see Tulmur Place fill with Akubras, blue jeans, boots and big buckle belts for a country music hoedown.
“It is great that Tulmur Place continues to showcase and support local musicians, bands and acts”.
Tunes in Tulmur is a monthly free event staged in Tulmur Place in the Nicholas Street Precinct, with events scheduled for 24 February and 24 March.
More dates for 2023 are expected to be announced shortly.
Parking in the dedicated Nicholas Street Precinct carpark is accessible via Bremer Street and is free for up to three hours.
