The Riverview Recycling and Refuse Centre is now open permanently from 7am to 5pm, seven days a week, all year round, with the exception of Good Friday and Christmas Day.
Growth, Infrastructure and Waste Committee Chair Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said council was always actively working to ensure its waste services were fit for our fast-growing city.
“After receiving positive feedback from the community, I am pleased to announce that we have permanently extended the centre’s hours of operation to provide easier access for residents,” Mayor Harding said.
“We know Ipswich is the fastest growing city in Queensland which means Council has to ensure its services are growing to meet this demand.
“This change will provide greater flexibility and convenience to our residents who may have previously found it difficult to access waste disposal services during their busy schedules.”
Growth, Infrastructure and Waste Committee Deputy Chairperson Councillor Paul Tully said council was always looking to provide the best possible services around waste and resource recovery.
“These permanent extended hours build on our summer season extended operating hours, which started on December 1 last year,” Cr Tully said.
“We had great feedback from the community who found it much more convenient to dispose of their waste, so this is part of council providing responsive service delivery to the community.
“Council remains committed to improving the quality of life for our residents and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our community remains a great place to live, work, and play.”
