Spring Vibes take over Nicholas Street Precinct these school holidays

Spring school holidays are fast approaching, with the countdown now on to find family-friendly activities that can keep everyone entertained without breaking the budget.
Ipswich Central Redevelopment Committee Chairperson and Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said Ipswich families should look no further than Nicholas Street Precinct.
“For one week starting on Wednesday 20 September, council’s free event, Spring Vibes, will be blooming throughout Tulmur Place from 10am to 1pm daily,” Cr Doyle said.
“Children will be spoilt for choice with an array of spring-inspired activities designed to entertain and delight.
“Get ready to groove and boogie with our kid-friendly DJ setting the spring vibes on the main stage and be captivated with roving performers, mini markets, yard games and splash play.
“Visit the gypsy tents to take part in a range of interactive workshops, from seed planting to floral and spring inspired art and crafts.
“Grab a bite to eat from one of the local cafes in Ipswich Central and Top of Town or explore the deals on offer from Nicholas Street Precinct vendors including Zambreros, Stellarossa and That Dumpling Place.
“The best part is Spring Vibes is a free event, and with more than 1,000 undercover car parks offering free parking for up to 3 hours, we hope Ipswich families from near and far can join us for a fun day out these school holidays.”
Division 3 Councillor Andrew Fechner said Ipswich Central will come alive with events also being held at the Ipswich Children’s Library, Ipswich Art Gallery, and Ipswich Civic Centre.
“Last school holidays we saw a record number of 50,000 attendances in the revitalised Nicholas Street Precinct,” Cr Fechner said.
“We won’t soon forget the dinosaurs roaring throughout the precinct, delighting young and old throughout the winter school holidays.
“I can’t wait to see how Spring Vibes captivates visitors in just two weeks’ time, adding to the growing list of successful events and activities drawing crowds to our thriving city centre.
“Whether it’s regular Handmade Markets and Tunes in Tulmur events or dedicated school holiday festivities, council is committed to bringing life back to our city’s heart, and it’s clear this is resonating with the people of Ipswich.”
Spring school holidays start on Saturday 16 September and finish on Monday 2 October 2023.

On Wednesday 27 September, Ipswich Libraries will be launching their newest Tales and Trail release ‘Hotel for Bees’ in the Nicholas Street Precinct at a kids’ fun day from 9.30am to 11.30am. Tales and Trails is an outdoor self-guided reading experience across the city.
