Two new businesses join Nicholas Street Precinct

An independent school and an earthmoving and logistics company are the latest businesses set to move into the Nicholas Street Precinct.
Ipswich Central Redevelopment Committee Chairperson Councillor Marnie Doyle said Ipswich City Council had recently signed leases with Indie Education and VE Group AU.
“Indie College has been part of the Nicholas Street Precinct since March, and have now expanded to occupy a second level of 143 Brisbane Street, at the corner of Nicholas and Brisbane streets,” Cr Doyle said.
This second level will allow the addition of a school campus which will offer alternative education to students from mainstream schools, for Year 9 to Year 12.
Indie College will continue to provide accredited courses aimed at young people who have needs which require more flexible arrangements.
“We have seen the precinct grow and expand firsthand and the connectivity to transport and services, combined with the growth and energy within the city centre made it an easy decision to expand our offer,” Indie School State Principal QLD Samantha Bolton said.
“It’s proven to be an ideal location for our students and teachers, and we love being part of the Ipswich community.”
With a local office in Riverview and depots located in Southeast QLD, Central Qld and Gladstone, earthmoving, civil construction and logistics company VE Group AU will also move in to 143 Brisbane Street.
VE Group AU Company Directors Nathan and Bronwen Howell said joining the Nicholas Street Precinct was a sensible move for a local business.
“As a proud independent local business, VE Group is delighted to be moving our south-east Queensland office into the Nicholas Street Precinct in the heart of Ipswich.”
Cr Doyle said the new leases were a fresh vote of confidence in Ipswich central and the Nicholas Street Precinct as a cultural hub, with more jobs moving into the city and more opportunities for locals to access important services.
The Australian Red Cross will also move from 143 Brisbane Street to 2 Bell Street, keeping this important community service within the precinct.
“Creating an appealing destination to work, study and recreate is one of the major focuses of Ipswich City Council in the Nicholas Street Precinct,” Cr Doyle said.
“These new leases will be closely followed by further new tenants moving into the precinct in the New Year, with council currently in negotiations with several new businesses.
“It’s exciting to see our city heart attracting more interest, and bringing fresh life to Ipswich.”
