Woodcrest State College car park lights up

Woodcrest State College at Springfield has been lit up with newly installed car park lights designed to improve safety.
Growth, Infrastructure and Waste Committee Chair Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the installation of new lighting continues council’s commitment to safety improvements around the city.
“Council has embarked on the largest capital and flood recovery works program in recent history to improve roads, lights and drains across our city,” Mayor Harding said.
“It is extremely important for public carparks servicing schools and community groups to be well lit to ensure the safety of children in our community.”
Growth, Infrastructure and Waste Committee Deputy Chairperson and Division 2 Councillor Paul Tully said the project was completed by Stowe as council’s contractors for $214,564.
“The lights were installed during recent school holidays so as not to cause disruption to the car park during the school term,” Cr Tully said.
Division 2 Councillor Nicole Jonic said the commitment to Woodcrest State College car park lighting was a council Budget commitment for 2022-2023.
“As a significant state school in Springfield, it’s wonderful to see council’s contribution of new lights installed at Woodcrest College for the benefit of families,” Cr Jonic said.
