Fencing at Cribb Park in North Ipswich will be realigned to provide more shade for dog off-leash area users.
Ipswich City Council Infrastructure, Planning and Assets Committee Chairperson Councillor Andrew Antoniolli said the works had been identified as part of council’s Provisional Projects program.
“The Capital Investment in Provisional Projects Policy allows for divisional councillors to put forward capital projects that are of importance to the community but not currently included in the three-year capital works program,” Cr Antoniolli said.
“This project was put forward by Division 4 Councillor Jim Madden following representations by community members about a lack of shade at the dog off-leash area at Cribb Park.
“Realigning the fencing is a simple but effective solution and will have a positive impact for park users.”
Division 4 Councillor Jim Madden said the decision will be music to the ears of residents and their four-legged companions.
“This is a great result, and will be welcomed by park users,” Cr Madden said.
“Council has listened to the community and will realign the chain mesh fencing at the park, expanding the dog off-leash area to incorporate existing seating and tables which provide shelter from the elements.”
A date is yet to be set on when the works will be completed.
Council provides a range of dog off-leash parks across the city. More information about dog-off leash areas is available here.
