Ipswich residents will be spoilt for choice these school holidays with 26 free events on offer across two weeks through council’s popular Active and Healthy program.

The line-up of activities includes four new Come and Try days at Redbank Plains, Riverview, Goodna and Rosewood for families with children of all ages, and two new programs specifically tailored towards getting teens active.

Ipswich City Council Community and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Jacob Madsen said with such a wide range of activities on offer, there was something for everybody.

“Council has curated an exciting program of events right across Ipswich to encourage young people of all ages to get active these school holidays,” Cr Madsen said.

“Four free Come and Try days will give families an opportunity to take part in a range of games and activities including touch football, hockey, lawn games, volleyball and more.

“Toddlers, young children and teens – families of all shapes and sizes – will all be able to enjoy the Come and Try days.

“The Come and Try days are a true community collaboration with a free barbecue and fruit available at each one thanks to Coles Redbank and support from Gailes Community House, PCYC Ipswich, DrugArm and the Rosewood Community Centre.

“As well, two exciting new programs will give teens the chance to put their parkour and mountain biking skills to the test.”

The four free Come and Try days will be held from 9am to 1pm as follows:
