Ipswich Sustainable Living Festival filled with fresh ideas

With a whole new program of free workshops, family entertainment and ideas for a cleaner, greener lifestyle, the Ipswich Sustainable Living Festival will be the place to be on Saturday 19 October.
Ipswich City Council Environment and Sustainability Committee Chairperson Councillor Jim Madden said this year’s event from 9am to 1pm on Saturday 19 October would build on the success of last year’s inaugural festival.
“Lots of interactive demonstrations, free workshops and free children’s shows, a Quibble Market pop-up, and dozens of local products and initiatives for a more sustainable lifestyle will all be in one place,” Cr Madden said.
“It is encouraging how strongly the Ipswich community embraces sustainability initiatives, with everything from native plants to bicycle repair, eco-friendly home products to e-waste recycling at the festival.
“Any step we can take, no matter how big or small, helps to build a sustainable city and a cleaner, greener future for us all.”
Ipswich Sustainable Living Festival will be on Saturday 19 October 2024 from 9am to 1pm at Tulmur Place, Nicholas Street Precinct, Ipswich.
ABC Gardening Australia presenter and permaculture and sustainability expert Hannah Moloney will be hosting a free workshop and book signing of her new book Good Life Growing.
Festival highlights include:
- Free workshops by Ipswich and regional experts, with topics such as growing food in a rental home, saving money with mindful meal planning, and turning food scraps into a resource.
- Free children’s shows with Urban Utilities ‘Water Ranger vs Blocka’ and Art for Earthlings ‘Charlie and the Bin Chicken’ as well as free youth and family activities.
- A pop-up of Ipswich’s own Quibble Market, filled with quality pre-loved clothing and accessories.
- Interaction with dozens of local sustainability initiatives, with practical demonstrations and a range of home and lifestyle products.
