Ipswich is the place to love getting older, as Queensland Seniors Month 2024 gets underway.
Ipswich City Council Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said it is important to recognise the contribution seniors make in the community.
“Seniors Month is all about celebrating our older Queenslanders,” Cr Augustine said.
“I encourage people of all ages to recognise our senior Queenslanders as the heart and soul of our community by getting down to events such as the Ipswich Seniors Expo that will be held at the Ipswich Showgrounds and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday 23 October.
“Seniors are the heart of our community - from volunteering at community clubs, events and services, to guiding our younger generations through life’s challenges, seniors are an important part of our community.
“This year’s theme of Love Getting Older is reflected through a host of events held around Ipswich throughout the month.
“Among the array of activities on offer, Ipswich Libraries will be again hosting free technology sessions from 1 to 31 October, including a Grandparent’s Day providing an opportunity to share new and old technologies between generations. There’ll be Mario Kart, 3D designs along with a display of older technology.”
Seniors Month is for people of all ages to reflect and celebrate the contribution seniors make.
