Anytime Fitness raises the bar in Nicholas Street Precinct

Nicholas Street Precinct has taken another step in cementing its reputation as a bustling city centre, with Queensland’s first flagship Anytime Fitness club recently opening its doors.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the luxury gym for all fitness levels is an exciting new addition for the Nicholas Street Precinct.

“As our reinvigorated city centre continues to grow, having a gym open its doors in the Nicholas Street Precinct means Ipswich residents will have easy access to a structured environment for exercise which also promotes positive mental wellbeing,” Mayor Harding said.

“Ipswich is a city that loves sport and fitness and as we continue to rapidly grow, it is vital our community has easy access to equipment and resources that can assist them in keeping active and healthy.

“Anytime Fitness is a great fit for our CBD. If you haven’t already, pop in and check out one of their fitness classes including boxing, functional fitness, bootcamps and Pilates.”

Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said the opening marked the continued diversification of the offerings available in the Nicholas Street Precinct.

“Residents will now have their entertainment, dining and fitness needs met in Nicholas Street Precinct,” Cr Augustine said.

“This gym is a great addition to the precinct, perfectly complementing existing tenants. I look forward to seeing the facility buzzing with residents who are on their fitness and wellbeing journey.”

Division 3 Councillor Marnie Doyle said the Brisbane Street frontage of Anytime Fitness will further connect Nicholas Street Precinct to the Top of Town.

“It’s exciting that with the addition of this gym, foot traffic will likely increase on Brisbane Street, providing a seamless link to Top of Town,” Cr Doyle said.

“Top of Town’s vintage stores and cafes will benefit from people exploring before and after visiting the gym – it’s the perfect blend of the old meeting the new in our city.

“The incredible facility will provide great benefits to our residents, whether they’re fitness fanatics or signing up to a gym for the first time.

“Council’s vision for a thriving city heart is becoming a reality, with 90 per cent of council-owned buildings in the precinct now leased.”

Jordan Cowen, Owner of Anytime Fitness Ipswich CBD said Ipswich has a real focus on health, movement and connection.

“We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed with the support from the local community — it’s been a reminder that Ipswich is not only ready for this kind of facility but is truly deserving of continued investment,” Mr Cowen said.

“We’re really looking forward to becoming part of the fabric that makes up this thriving city and can’t wait to see our members making the space their own, whether they’re smashing out a morning session, recovering after work, or starting something new.”
