Ipswich residents can beat the heat this Australia Day for free at all Ipswich City Council-owned swim centres.
Free entry will be granted for residents between 10am and 4pm on Sunday 26 January.
Community and Sport Committee Chairperson Councillor Jacob Madsen said spending the day at the pool was a great way to capitalise on the long weekend.
“Council has marked Australia Day with free entry to all council-owned pools since 1997, and we are pleased to continue this tradition this year,” Cr Madsen said.
“Free entry has proven very popular among residents in past years because we have fantastic pool facilities in our city which are best enjoyed in the hot summer months.
“It is a great way to make the most of the long weekend by getting active with family and friends as well as cooling down on what is usually a scorcher of a day.
“Please be sun safe in the pool by remembering to slip, slop and slap.
“If you want to stay cool and beat the heat beyond the Australia Day weekend, there are free water parks at Orion Lagoon, Robelle Domain, Bob Gamble Park, Ripley Splash ‘n’ Play, Tulmur Place and White Rock Splash Pad.”
Free entry on Australia Day applies at the following Ipswich City Council-owned swim centres:
