Ipswich will once again come together to celebrate its rich history and diversity through Galvanized: A Festival of Heritage in 2025, with expressions of interest to participate now open.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said Galvanized: A Festival of Heritage was Ipswich’s signature heritage festival featuring First Nations, artisans, tours, local businesses, historical sites, and events with rich histories and ties to Ipswich.
“We are calling on individuals, businesses, artisans, experience providers, tour operators and other organisations with ties to Ipswich heritage to come forward and participate in Galvanized: A Festival of Heritage,” Mayor Harding said.
“Galvanized brings together the Ipswich community and immerses them in the history of the city they now call home, also featuring hallmarks of our past through recreated heritage villages along with crafts, from blacksmithing to quilting.
“If you prefer your heritage and history learning to be of the spooky variety, Galvanized often hosts haunted tours of some of our cemeteries and learn about enduring urban legends and stories.
“Galvanized is the perfect opportunity for any creative, artist, business or historian to share their passions and fascinations with the Ipswich community, so submit your expression of interest now for the 2025 program.”
Economic and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson Councillor Pye Augustine said Galvanized will focus on opening doors to exclusive experiences or shared social events with a historical theme.
“Ipswich has a long and illustrious history, and Galvanized is a great way for residents and visitors to learn about that history through fun activities, tours, food, workshops and novel experiences,” Cr Augustine said.
“Galvanized 2025 will be a curated collection of experiences for patrons to immerse themselves in the unique tales and heritage of one of Queensland’s oldest towns, with a strong focus on community, First Nations culture and shared stories.
“It is a great opportunity for the community to enjoy learning about our past and also a great opportunity for our operators, businesses and artisans to showcase their great offerings.”
The expressions of interest applications will be assessed in April and selected applicants will be required to provide further information by mid-May 2025.
