The Ipswich Art Gallery is one of the most well attended regional art galleries in Australia, boasting over 100,000 visitors each year.
As the dedicated home of the Ipswich Art Gallery Collection and Heritage Collection, the Gallery serves as a visual arts and social history museum, as well as hosting a dynamic program of exhibitions and displays, with complementary workshops, performances and extensive family-oriented offerings.
The Gallery is proudly the first in Australia to encompass a permanent, interactive Children's Gallery, offering an array of exciting cultural/educational programs and activities for the early childhood, lower and upper primary age ranges.
Housed in the heritage-listed building that served as the town hall and hub of Ipswich community life for over a century and underwent extensive renovations and restorations in 1999, the Gallery is a work of art unto itself and a cherished treasure of Ipswich.
Near shops, cafes and eateries, the Ipswich Railway Station and well-serviced bus routes, the Gallery offers free parking inside Ipswich City Square car park and is fully air-conditioned with pram and wheelchair access.
Open daily from 10 am to 5 pm (except on certain public holidays), admission to the Ipswich Art Gallery is free unless stated otherwise.
